From 2 February to 3 March 2024, the Leica Gallery London will host the exhibition of the teNeues photo book 'London Vertical' by Horst Hamann. The dizzying images show the iconic city in a never-before-seen beauty.

German photographer Horst Hamann, considered a pioneer of vertical urban photography, began his photographic Vertical Views of Cities in 1991. The initial experimental shots have evolved into a distinctive view of modern architecture. His depictions of Vertical Paris and Vertical New York have already been recognised as award-winning, sell-out publications. His extensive work has been featured in over 50 publications and numerous exhibitions.

For the last seven years he has focussed on London, a city very close to his heart. "London Vertical" shows completely new architectural perspectives in dramatic black and white images. All the pictures in the exhibition were taken with the Leica Q2.

With the participation of the internationally renowned architect Lord Norman Foster, who wrote the texts in the photo book and is responsible for some of the world's most famous buildings, the impressive photographs are being presented to the public for the first time.

Leica has a long tradition in photography and played a decisive role in the development of 35mm photography. The first Leica cameras, which came onto the market at the beginning of the 20th century, revolutionised the world of photography with their compact size, which enabled photographers to capture spontaneous moments. In addition to manufacturing cameras, Leica is also heavily involved in the promotion of photographic art through the Leica Galleries. These galleries are located in various cities around the world and serve as exhibition spaces for renowned photographers as well as emerging talent.
