Malene Birger

MOVE and WORK

Malene Birger is the epitome of creativity and timeless, classic elegance.

Whether as a fashion designer and founder of her companies, most recently By Malene Birger, or as an interior designer for her own homes and offices, her love of timeless design and traditional craftsmanship is evident everywhere.

In this book, the self-proclaimed nomad, who looks for inspiration all over the world, provides an exciting insight into three of her homes, which amaze with a boundless wealth of interior design ideas. She also provides an exclusive insight into her new showroom in Copenhagen, which is part of her new decor company BIRGER1962. This creative studio is dedicated to design, interior design and art and will in turn serve as a source of inspiration for others on how to skilfully redesign their homes. Thanks to numerous moves, both private and professional, Malene Birger is the best example of how to stage new interiors and set strong accents with existing furniture. Her homes are a skilful mix of old and new, handicrafts and modern design, art and influences from other cultures. For six years, Malene Birger lived in Mallorca until she moved to London in early 2013, from where she now works.

In 2010, Malene Birger decided to leave the business side of the company by selling her remaining shares to IC Company's co-founder to focus solely on her creative development and work in general.
In 2014, Malene decided to "hand over the creative keys" to her design manager Christina Exsteen and the design team. Christina has worked closely with Malene since the fashion house was founded.
Today, Malene Birger focuses on her other passions and inspirations - art and interiors - in her new company BIRGER1962, which was founded during 2014. Another step towards expressing her extraordinary creativity.
