With a foreword by a well-known children's author about what it means to be a child

Children's happiness at its best: the perfect gift for Christmas

The internationally renowned and multi-award-winning photographer Mario Marino has been travelling the world with his camera for several decades and has long been considered a luminary in the field of portrait photography. His previously published illustrated books with portrait photography from Africa and India have won several prizes.

In "Children of Our Earth", Marino collects for the first time his most beautiful, poignant, humorous and exciting pictures of children. The photographs come from several continents, from children of Western civilisations in Europe to primitive peoples in Africa to street children in East Asia. Marino delivers a photographic homage to the future of humanity and our planet. For it will not be the adults who decide the future.

Mario Marino achieves something incredible with his pictures: children dictate their own rules to the photographer and it is incredibly difficult to build up trust between the sitter and the photographer, which is so important for the photo. Only a few photographers have the gift of getting so close to the children in their portraits. It almost seems as if the children have known the photographer for years, so much do they seem to open up and reveal their essence. Mario Marino's portraits thus become authentic encounters with children all over the world, their joy and moments of happiness, but also their longings and fears. Each picture is individual, each picture seems to say the impressive sentence that is often denied to children today: Here I am.
